Volvo Today

Volvo is currently enjoying a resurgence in Research and Development, in part due to our new ownership group, Geely Automotive. Volvo stakeholders predict a positive trend with more new vehicle models being released within the next 18 months. We have seen different concept cars with astounding body work, engines and increases in autonomous technology. The exotic, handsome XC90 has arrived to rave reviews winning numerous awards, including the prestigious Truck of the Year Award for 2016. The Hybrid XC90 arrives late spring 2016 with industry leading fuel efficiency for its class.

Volvo's flagship Sedan, the S80 will be replaced with the S90 which arrives late spring 2016. It too follows the award winning styling and technological cues of the new XC90. The S90 platform will provide for two additional upcoming models, the V90 and the V90 Cross Country (V90 CC). These "wagon" models will arrive within the next year.

Volvo's New Drive-E engines have already won acclaim from journalists the world over. Offering plenty of low-end torque, these new 2 Litre - four cylinder power plants provide high fuel efficiency through turbo-charging as well as supercharging. Combining the two together, power increases up to 320 HP or what some 6 or 8 cylinder engines currently offer. Drive-E engines are available in both FWD and AWD configurations.

Volvo passengers and drivers are also welcoming advances with more comfortable, but stiffer frames, advanced suspensions and steering, continued improvements on safety technology and more luxurious and comfortable cabin materials including soft touch finishes using textile, leather and crystal. Scandinavian simplicity continues to be one of Volvo's Core Equity monikers, and this is nowhere better displayed than on the new XC90's dash board. The 9" touch pad is highly responsive (even with gloves on) and this new technology reduces the amount of buttons on the dash board to eight. These new creature comforts and technology advances are quickly working their way through the entire Volvo model line-up.
